Ian Flemings James Bond series is my favorite.
Series of Unfortunate Events is really good even though it is the same book over & over.
On book 3 of Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials. Second one was no good, but first & third are.

Authors: Ted Dekker (the Circle Trilogy is fantastic) Chuck Phalaniuk (He wrote Fight Club, which actually is great as both the book and movie) I highly recommend, if your at least 18, picking up Rant. Every time I finish it, I want to start reading it again immediately. Chuck qualifies as a series writer since supposedly two more books will be out that deal with the world of Mr. Rant Casey.
Series, comics or books: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (including the Hobbit) Inheritance Circle (that's the Eragon series official title, own Brisingr, yet to start it though) Crimson Runaways Ex Machina (reading any Brian K. Vaughn stuff is quite satisfying)
I could go on forever when it comes to comics, I just named a few.

The Elric series by Michel Moorthingy has always been one of my favorites.

Love the Elric series, I have a graphic novel from that series. Renton, I thought I was the only person that read Crimson. I always wished that would get made into an anime.

Schrodingerscat, I've wished many things for the Crimson gang. An anime would be so sweet! I love that series so much that I bought the trades to lend out to share the love, AND I have the circular symbol that variously pops up in the series tattooed on the back of my left calf.
