I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I am here to inform. Here's Hasbro yet again telling us that Mighty Muggs are finished. this is from Rebelscum.com's recent Q&A session posted yesterday
"Rebelscum: Combining two lines into one single question, since the question is pretty much the same for both: Mighty Muggs and Titanium Series. Can you comment on the demise of these lines, and more speficially, when they will be ending? There's obviously a lot of characters/vehicles to bring out in these lines, and of those that were already announced (like Ahsoka Tano, the UT-AT, E-Wing, Gungna Sub), which ones will actually come out before they end?
Hasbro: Both lines are winding down for the same reason: diminished interest in these formats compared to anything else in the Star Wars lineup. While both started strong - and Titanium in particular has had an AMAZING 5-1/2 year run - interest had waned since the original launches.
Actually, the two lines diverged significantly in a couple areas.
Mighty Muggs were faster and simpler to develop, but we were dipping down into characters that consumers did not seem to care for in the vinyl format, and many fans who initially were excited about the concept either did not have the room to continue to pursue or decided that they had had enough.
Titanium was more difficult to develop, was subject to pricing volatility given the metal component, and needed a significant amount of new tooling to keep it interesting. Both of them, because of the extremely high item count needed to sustain their sales, were less important than the need to refocus our design team elsewhere on new initiatives."
I wonder how they came to the conclusion that (A. we had no more room to collect and (B. "dipping down"? what characters are they talking about? the only Star Wars Mugg that shelfwarmed around here in San Diego was Tarkin! everybody else sold well. Characters that we don't care for? Snowtrooper, Shocktrooper, Cody, Biggs, Bossk, Teebo, we all hard a hard time even finding these! how are they characters that "we" don't care for?

Again, it's just lies. Hasbro's lost a good customer here. I'll refuse to buy my nephew anything Hasbro-related--looks like he'll be into Superman and Batman instead of Star Wars and Spider-man.

I grew up with Hasbro, mainly GI Joe, Star Wars, and Transformers so I'm not gonna quit collecting even though it is upsetting what's happened to Mighty Muggs. Looks like Hasbro has me by the balls lol
I don't care what Hasbro says I don't see how on God's green earth stuff like those awful unleashed multipacks sell better that Mighty Muggs. How are those even still around???

I don't get it what's wrong with Hasbro? First they think 6" figures are too hard to make and now they claim Mighty Muggs only appeal to a minor group. I think MM are the fastest rising toys I've seen in years. Lot's of customs made. I also want to know how they know characters don't sell based on 1 wave (TF , GI Joe)

Snowtrooper, Shocktrooper, Cody, Biggs, Bossk, Teebo, we all hard a hard time even finding these! how are they characters that "we" don't care for? Rant incoming These are the two points that I agree with most concerning Hasbro's view on this all the sudden. A) We have no room because we've been (here's the kicker) BUYING THEM ALL! And Hasbro needs to stop underestimating the mind of the collector, if we don't have room we will store the old stuff and rotate in the new stuff. I have a closet full of Muggs that are boxed up waiting for the day I have more room. Meanwhile the latest storebought waves of Marvel TF, Joe and SW muggs sit on a shelf. If I had the funds (currently buying a house and everything that goes in it) I would be buying more Muggs. B) Dipping into what characters? Transformers and G.I. Joe barely got started, Transformers has a metric fckton of characters (90% of which are popular) that they can pull from. Joe honestly not so much, after this rumored wave I can see them maybe getting 1 more full wave out of it before interest wanes. And that's mainly to get Dr. Mindbender, Hooded Cobra, and Roadblock on the shelves before the line dies. Marvel they have loads of characters to pull from and a lot of big names that can still be sold and be sold well. All of Spider-Man's villians, All the X-men and their villians, Hawkeye, Deadpool etc. The list for Marvel is just as endless as Transformers. Star Wars is one I can see them actually starting to be hardpressed to find suresellers for, but that may be my own personal bias talking. I personally attribute the fall of Mighty Muggs to two mistakes on Hasbro's part. 1) Distrubution/Advertising - I have STILL not seen the Target exclusive Star Wars wave at my local Target. They skipped the Galactus Wave of Marvel and have yet to get Cyc/Sabertooth/etc. Walmarts don't carry Muggs here anymore and all TRU has is a shelf full of Punishers. TF have sold out every time they've been stocked and G.I.Joe isn't big around here to begin with and the entire first wave for them is a shelf-warmer 2) Wave Selection - Personally, the less 'human' looking a Mugg is the more likley I am to buy it. a Person with an outfit on is boring to me. Tarkin, Hann, Sidious, Duke, Hulk etc don't interest me in the slightest whereas Bosk, Sabertooth, Snake Eyes, the various Troopers, and the Transformers I want as soon as they hit shelves. Also, why in god's name are we having repeats in waves already, and not only repeats, but repeats of characters that are top sellers in the first place. I understand the mentality of "don't fire your big guns right away or you hurt future sales" But that doesnt mean add a boatload of filler/obviously not popular characters. All that does is create shelf-warmers and stores stop stocking because they can't get the crap sold. Muggs had potential, and it showed, just Hasbro made some key errors as they, and a lot of toy/collectible companies tend to do. Rant over, sorry for the wall o' text folks.

Do u guys think Hasbro is going to announce a new line called Muggs Universe that is 3" hitting retails the end of 2009 with 10 characters per series while still telling us that "MU" doesnt mean the end of Mighty Muggs (which roughly translate from the unreleased Marvel:Iceman/Mageneto,SPiderman/Green Goblin and Deadpool.)
Of course this is just my wild guess based on another successful toy line.
