Heresy! Blasphemy! But really, under what conditions will each of you (as collectors, enthusiasts, addicts even), determine that your Mugg collection is complete? Will it be when you find them underfoot and in every kitchen cabinet? (I'm thinking of the tribbles scene with Kirk, when the little fuzzballs rain down on him). Will it be when your wallet is finally depleted to the point when you have the choice of Muggs or food (and you can't tell which??) Or will it simply be when your display cases are full or your favorite characters in certain lines have been made, whether they are the Avengers, the main heroes/villains from Star Wars or another property? When and how will YOU look at your Mugg collection one day, and know to proudly exclaim ... "I did it! I'm done." Inquiring Loungers want to know.

When my wife says "Me or the Muggs?" Even then, tough call;)
Seriously though, when I have two of each. One in box and one out. I don't think I'll ever stop with the Stormtroopers though. You can never have enough Troopers.

This will probably be what does it. Or when stores around here all take after Walmart and stop carrying everything because my community is too bad. There's only so much shipping rape I can take.

For me...i'd say i won't stop until i have every star wars mugg, every indy mugg, and possibly every marvel Mugg. i was never planning on collecting any marvels, but i got hooked on them too...so since in the next day or so i'll be completely up to date on all 3 lines...i guess i will try to keep collecting all of the marvel as well. so as long as hasbro keeps churning out star wars, indy and marvel..ill keep collecting.

Definatley "Food or Muggs" wallet decision. They may be recycled, but I would think food tastes better...although I would get to a strickly Ramen Noodles diet before I give up my Mugg addiction.

For me, I am carefully and realistically analyzing my future wants in the Muggs areas (as well as OTHER action figure lines I collect and greatly enjoy).
While I have all of the Star Wars Muggs to date, I have "stabilized" (i.e. stopped) buying any future SW Muggs. I did NOT buy and Indy Muggs and do not plan to do so. I DO continue to buy all of the Marvel Muggs (including the exclusives). I will NOT be buying any of the GI Joe Muggs (with the exception of Cobra Commander/Destro) I will probably buy several of the Transformers Muggs (moreso because I like the robotic designs as opposed to being a big Transformers fan).
Realistically, since my primary collecting is actually (surprise!) realistic DC and Marvel figures, with a current focus on the 3 3/4" scale (hence the fact that I run a board dedicated to these guys!), the fact that there will be several hundred of them released in the next year and a half, means that casual mugg buying (i.e. anything as long as it is a Mugg) will ultimately take a back seat once both Hasbro and Mattel start cranking out the Superhero 3 3/4" figures in great numbers.
Marvel wise, I was surprised to discover after making a mental list that, NOT including the Muggs already slated for upcoming release, the primary ones I would want would be those to complete the Avengers (like Ant/Giant Man, Hawkeye etc..), Fantastic Four (Reed, Sue), Defenders (Namor, Dr. Strange) and selected X-Men (cyclops, beast, magneto). Since even a MAJOR baddie like Red Skull was only released as an exclusive, I do have my doubts about which villains will be released in mass market, but time will tell.
So while I can understand the folks who ONLY collect Muggs might see their collection as neverending, for some of us who collect other things too it might be wise to "take stock" and look ahead at our future collection wants and determining not only the scope of future Mugg purchases but also some way to tell if we've completed our Mugg collection. The exact answer will naturally be different for everyone... which is why I am curious what other Loungers think..
And for those of you who simply answer "neverending", I would like to say "Thank You!" .... on behalf of Hasbro shareholders worldwide. ;D ;D ;D

As long as they produce the lines I like and I can buy at a reasonable price I will continue.
I'm not a mugg addict that has to get every figure because its a mugg at the moment I buy the superhero stuff only but I will prob go for transformers as well.

Great topic. I've been weighing that question myself. I love getting Muggs, but the money racks up really quickly buying these things, and I don't even have that many compared to a lot of people on the board.
Myself, I'm not of the "collect 'em all" mentality, and just pick and choose which figures I like and only get those. It makes the size of the collection more reasonable, and that way I don't feel like I'm spending AS much money.
But to answer the question, as long as they are making characters I like, I think I'll probably keep buying!

pretty much it's going to come down to a few issues.
space: as it is im running out of space already and i only have like 30 i dont' feel like piling them up in the corner for the sake of just to have them all.
selection: so far the selections have been great but i could see myself getting muggs i dont' even want just to say i have them all. good example is the swordsman from indy. im not a huge fan of the figure and i always pass at him at retail but i just made a trade for him beacuse i had an extra boba fett. im not to into the clone wars set but i see myself grabbing them all for some reason.
price: yeah the price is great for them. 10 bucks no big deal. but when you buy mulitples at a time. some days i would find like 4 or 5 and that adds up pretty quickly. when i look at my collection i count them up and realize i have spent nearly 300 dollars in muggs i have to take a step back and be like wow you serious? this is not even counting the cost of gas. i have driven quite a bit to find the ones i have. that 300 could of went a long way to something else.
availability: i haven't had to much trouble finding muggs. but sometimes it's a frustrating search. going to 5 stores in one day just to come up empty. i have still yet to see dr doom venom leia lando iron man and cody at the retail level. these kind of shortages force you go to the secondary market to find what you need even elevating the price and just adding to my other point about cost.
quality: right now i have no issues with quality besides the change to plastic heads and even then it's not a deal breaker. but i do see it as a sign for things to come. others have complained about paint applications and that usually comes with oversea production and quality control.
bottom line i enjoy muggs and i dont' see myself quiting anytime soon but there will be a time i would scale back. i used to collect mcfarlane hockey figures but only the goalies. there came a point where all of the items i outlined came about. i was running out of space i could no longer find them at retail, quality took a dive, i had to resort to ebay and the cost per figure just became to much. i still think they are pretty cool and i like seeing the new figures that come out but i just have no urge to get any more.

Very nice response. I'm definitely feeling a lot of the same issues that you are. I've bought a few figures that after a week or so, I'm like...uh, I didn't really need that one...but sometimes, it's just so exciting to find any Muggs, you get them. I think if Muggs jumped up to $15, that might be the end for me. At $10, they're priced just right, but a step up and I'd really pick and choose who I bought and who I didn't.
