Alrighty....I'm currently up-to-date on all the Mighty Muggs that are out.....Marvel, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones. I love them all! I'd eventually like to dedicate an entire glass-encased wall to the line. Here's the problem: after discovering that there will be Transformers and GI Joe Muggs, my dream of being a mugg completist is being challenged. Don't get me wrong....I LOVE the characters from both lines....there's just a HELL of ALOT of characters from every fictional universe. Marvel and Star Wars alone is killer. To make matters worse, they're already re-releasing certain characters (i.e. Vader w/o Faceplate, shirtless Darth Maul, Indiana Jones in Tux.) There are also some characters that I don't really feel deserve to be "mugged" just yet....Satipo and Young Indiana Jones come to mind. Additionally, the waves seem to be coming faster and faster and, as each new line is introduced, I fear my wallet will be pummeled by the continuous onslaught. I LOVE THE MIGHTY MUGGS, THOUGH!!!!! My situation lies in the fact that they're so hard to come by. It's not like you can go into a store and find each character waiting for me. There will always be one that is harder to find than the other. Ebay, for example, is charging an arm and a leg for Venom. (Thank God I already have him! haha!) It's either pick them up as soon as possible or pay out the wazhoo later. I would like to hear everyone's opinions about the increase in the Mugg Market....should I try to be a completist? Should Hasbro lower the price of the Mighty Muggs? What will my fellow completists do in the coming months/years? Thanks in advance my fellow muggers! -CombustedGremlin

yes it can add up fast. in 2 weeks time I have spent about $150 on muggs. however, for me, I feel the need to have every single mugg that exists. and I would really like to own customs. so....when I am at the store, sometimes I just have to pass on getting a mugg, I am sure somehow somewhere I can get it later, albeit more expensive, but I wont break the bank now. I feel yah on the "which muggs are cooler" I still have yet to get the hulk, and he is on clearance here. same with cairo swordsman.....just cant bring myself to get them, with other (imo) more cooler muggs that I still dont have. but again, for me, I am going for every single mugg. its like a baseball card collection, you try yo complete the entire series.

I think it's a opinion question.
I personally would like to collect just about every one that comes out. But if you don't really have the money to collect them, I wouldn't. If you do, then you might wanna.
It's all about opinion. I don't think hasbro should lower the price, if they do though maybe to like 7 would be a good price.
Also, about finding the muggs. I think that's part of the excitement!

I started out thinking I would be a completist and was current up until the Indy Muggs came out. Now, for many of the same reasons you mention, combustedgremlin, I have decided against it. (I even started up a thread questioning ultimately how Loungers might know when their Mugg collection might be complete... sometime in the future). Aside from your reasons, I also add the fact that Muggs are not the only thing I collect.. I am majorly into realistically styled DC and Marvel superhero action figures in several different scales (especially stressing the new 3 3/4" scale for superheroes, so much so that I am the admin of a board, separate from the Lounge, which has its focus just on them). There is just no way I could be a completist in EVERY one of those lines. Something had to give... and one of those somethings was the Muggs (deciding to be completist ONLY on the Marvel line and cherrypicking the rest).
Now, the new Mattel 3 3/4" Infinite hero line and the upcoming (this March) Hasbro similarly scaled Marvel superhero line is another matter entirely. Even if they release dozens and dozens of each brand during the next twelve months (which they will), those I am comitted to be a completist for ... it's just the inner superhero collector in me!!
(So it's a few Transformers Muggs and perhaps a GI Joe Mugg or two, but otherwise ALL Marvel from this point on... My Star Wars muggs were stablized (halted) after the last wave out.

At one point I decided that I was going to ax the Marvel line, but that lasted 2 weeks as I found wave 3 and I purchased them all without giving it a second thought. I don't even want to how I'm going to pay for 5 lines.

I shall not be a completist. As much fun as it may be to get them all, there are so many characters that I don't have a "connection" to. For instance, I love all the Marvel line, but I didn't grow up following Dr. Doom or Doc Ock, and in turn, those figures are not ones that I have to have (cool or not). And with Star Wars, I don't really want anything from the new trilogy. For some people, I'm sure it's hard to make that separation of "to buy or not to buy," but that is how I do it, and how I was able to decide (rather easily) that I wasn't going to get every single Mugg.
The decision became even easier with the announcement of the Joe and Transformers lines.
This has made the collection a more reasonable size and much more affordable, and has made me happy with my decision to collect.

I wish I wasn't a completist & I may have to change. I see why people are debating or only focusing on one line. It really is personal opinion. I still am trying to get everyone, but it is the gas money that is hurting me more than anything. (Bi-weekly Muggg runs) But I have not collected toys for a long time & I like being on "the ground floor" of the Mighty Muggs. It allows the possibility to get them all. I do feel bad that I have no room to display all I have now, but I think it would be cool to have a Mugg room someday with every piece made on shelves.
The way I look at it. To each their own.

I thought I was just going to get all the Marvel Muggs. It very quickly became ALL OF THEM though.
I'll continue to buy every Mugg until the day they start putting out ones that are obviously lame attempts to get $12 from my wallet.

I think most people have come across your dilemma on their own. Mugg prices are great imo considering that hasbro is tryin to get into the vinyl toy market where stuff averages like $40.
I want to be a completist really bad but for me it will be the money and the time in the end that will stop me from that with school coming up. Also though i just dont like how some mugg characters are depicted.
For now I'll just be getting my favorite characters from each line. At the end of the day take a step back and realize these are just toys, material objects, and you could probably always use your money for somethin better.

I'm planning on getting them all. I decided when I started this collection that it would complete. I've never done that before. I hope I can pull it off. Wish me luck!

Hmm for me this is a no. It is not about the money, because I have extras that I'm waiting to trade when I cant get the one I am looking for. I just want the ones I like. (like most on here) At least that is the case with the SW and Indy line, now when it comes to Marvel I do have each one, and will probably get them, when GIJ comes out I will get all 4 gotta have Duke the leader, and Transformers will get them all, but I like the G1 series better anyway. At leas the first wave of them, and then I will most likely get picky from there if they are still making them.

I'm a completist all the way. As a kid I wasn't even allowed to watch G.I Joe, so I'm not really a fan. Even with this I still want 'em all, they're just to cool to pass up. My wife is gonna hate me.
