No there are no such thing as box color variants. Most of us on this site are male thus we can barely tell lilac from purple ( if there really is a difference ). So if you ever run across two boxes that seem different pick them both up, and send me the off color one, and I'll make sure the issue gets settled. ;D

I think... people take this varient thing out of control. The boxes: Simply a printing error Plastic Heads: Who cares? (Well you guys do) All we do is DISPLAY them. They still look the same. 2-Eye Vader: Has anyone actually SEEN one of these in real life? Dark/light Stormy: The color is such a light thing, YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL. UGH. /end rant. I agree. From what I have seen of the two stormies, it just looks like a difference of using warm grey on one and cool grey on another. I believe that the actual value of the tones are almost identical, they just have a different color temperature. And Vader... it's just like the Wolverine with no eyes that's been going around... the machine messed up for a couple of hours and they got released. Sorry guys. Not trying to be negative or anything, just realistic. Although, I do prefer the vinyl over the plastic. I have actually never even seen one of the plastic heads though.

NONE of them WERE EVER vinyl. Yeah but saying plastic and vinyl is faster than saying 'hollow lighter plastic head' and 'heavy plastic head The different materials bug me as the hollow ones feel cheaper. The only 'variant' I care about is 2-eyed Vader. And that one mugg-collection pic actually has a 2-eyed Vader in it.

I thought we were looking for seams on the head. If it had a seam, it was supposed to be "plastic." I actually have no idea. They all feel the same to me and are fine.

While many Loungers might not care about variants, especially if they keep their Muggs MIB (and thus have NO idea if their Mugg's heads are "heavy or light", there is a great and grand tradition of Action figure collectors who thrive on such things (recalling that SOME of the Mugg owners are NEW to the wonderful world of action figure collecting, since Muggs are by nature, an interesting "cross over" item, that because of their "cute" design, can appeal to MANY different kinds of people (fans of the subject matter), as opposed to just strict action figure collecting (which is why so many people have reported positive reactions from spouses). Yes, people have seen the 2 eyed Vader (saw one on Ebay recently!) and it was a "running change" from one to the other.
Having said that, it appears that the "light" head vs "heavy" head might have hit a different sort of nerve here, apart from the rarity seekers. Since Muggs were a copy of urban vinyl, retooled for the masses, SOME folks had SOME degree of expectation... (i.e. heavy weight) and to SOME at least, this change reflects a possible cheapening, which, if if understandable due to costs, is not good. SOME see it as a first tiny slippery step, maybe meaningless by itself but, maybe not... The recent rash of reports here on the Lounge of loose joints on exclusive Muggs (both of My movie IRon men suffer from this malady) also is another sore spot. That's two.
All Muggers are entitled to their opinions on these things (about HOW important they might or might not be) but the comments of this community certainly reflect that SOME folks are not only alert (no ostriches here with their heads in the sand), they are a no longer 100% across the board happy .... reality is setting in... mistakes can be made.
Sorry for the long rant, guys, but JoeofMars, there is a BIG difference between a variant (even if it might be important to some) and QC issues (loose joints) / deliberate materials changes (light head vs heavy head). How much do they matter... perhaps only to obsessive folks.... folks who ah... shall we say.... might register on a board for such things... we're like the canary in the mine... we're an early indicator to Hasbro... we're easy to please (because we're bonkers over these things), BUT if these canaries start getting sick...... then WATCH OUT....

Read slower... Just trying to say that these things might be more important than first appear.. and hopefully aren't little steps along a bigger slippery slope toward sloppiness and other problems.... THAT might make them important.

I think I heard some patriotic music in the background while I read that. Glad to see that feature was correctly enabled on your system... (sorry others missed it... the chorus and the orchestra were awesome...)
