I thought this thread would be good for lending out ideas for others to add to their own tools when customizing their muggs.... Here's a list of what i've been using so far.... a lot of stuff are all imported from japan (they got some good stuff!)...and still looking for a great pen that will go well on my lacquers that wont rub off but goes on real dark(sharpies are lighter than my black paint) - Iwata Custom Micron CM-C Airbrush
- Iwata HP-C Airbrush
- Badger Cyclone II compressor
- Airbrushing hood
- Mr. Color Lacquers
- Mr. Thinner
- Tamiya Masking Tape
- Olfa Design Knife
- Cutting Mat

I dont make custom muggs (hopefully I'll get to try one this year) but I do make plastic models and other crap but I've been pretty happy using my Iwata airbrush, does the job. Tamiya masking tape is pretty good also but I ran out recently.

Anyone have experience using spray paints? I plan on making customs, but I don't think it'll be enough of a hobby to warrant purchasing and air brush. Also, does anyone know if regular scotch tape would do well? I'm gonna try to be a little cheap with buying stuff

Also, does anyone know if regular scotch tape would do well? I'm gonna try to be a little cheap with buying stuff when using spray paints, spray 10-12 inches away from your media...going too close may causes what some call "bleeding"...never start/stop spraying directly on your mugg...you wanna start spraying outside and then go past your mugg when you spray...gives off a better finish... Scotch tape will NOT work IMO...first of all it's too think to actually grab around a Mugg especially that it's round and paint would leak under when you spray.

I've had good luck with spray paint, buttt you have to be VERY careful and spray very slowly steady and quick sprays not one long one, otherwise it'll run, and spray paint is not good for mailing off. Anything hot will make it sticky.
