well it depends on if u use an airbrush, brush, or spray can.
use a gloss clear coat with an airbrush and spray can but do 4 or 5 thin coats color sanding between each coat. oh there is a way to paint the last clear coat but its hard to explain.
this should get u started.
patience and let them dry

i prefer the semi gloss coat that testors do make.....semi gloss has the closer feel to original muggs that are sold in stores..

Krylon has some clear stuff that works pretty well. Or simply buying glossy spray paint if you're comfy enough with spray paint.
