Nothing but rumors at this point but sounds interesting, from Latinoreview.com: MTV interviewed Michael Caine about a third Batman movie. You know, because once one comes out, we need a new one to watch 7 days later or we're just not satisfied as human beings. Michael mentions that he heard it through the WB grapevine about who will be challenging Batman in the third installment of the Nolan directed series: “When Christopher [Nolan] said we were going to do ‘The Dark Knight’ next, I didn’t what that meant in Batman terms,” related Caine, who plays Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth. “I said, ‘What’s the story?’ and he said The Joker. I said, ‘Oh, s–t! How are you going to top Jack [Nicholson]?’ He said, ‘Well, I’ve cast Heath Ledger. And I went ‘Ha! I couldn’t top Jack, but if anyone could, maybe Heath could.’ And he did. “I was with executive and I said, ‘Are we going to make another one?’ They said yeah. I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath? And he says ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath — Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.’ I said, ‘S–t, they’ve done it again!’” [Laughs]

That could be amazing. I hope Nolan doesn't start going with the "2 Villians" formula that most comic movies do. Though I think I trust any choice Nolan makes at this point. This topic is gonna fill up fast. Let's try to keep things Civil, ok?

I think Nancy Peliso would make a fine choice for the next Joker.

I heard they nixed the idea of the Penguin appearing - but Depp as the Riddler would certainly get my vote

yeah Depp would be good as long as he takes the role seriously. Depp is such a character actor that I can easily see him turning the Riddler role into a Willy Wonka/Jack Sparrow hybrid, in other words really over the top. Hopefully, if this rumor is true, He will take a cue from Heath on what an actor is really capable of.

I think PSH would be great as the Penguin. And Depp as Riddler could be sweet, but as Jose said, he better take it serious. But I think if he, he could take it to new heights.

I've been reading about this on a few websites. I don't even want the Riddler. Nolan says that he won't do Catwoman/Robin/Penguin in his movies. I find that hard to believe. Angelina Jolie supposedly already contacted WB about playing catwoman. He said he is more for the idea of having Phillip Seymour in his movie than to have penguin. But he would be a good penguin....you don't have to have him deformed like Devito just a mob boss.
Nolan also said that he planned to use Joker in the next film, but is rewriting what he's got since Heath's death. I think they could use that kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun just for small snips if they need to for story progression......he looks just like Heath now that he is older.
I want to see someone new. Black Mask would be interesting or Hush. At this point I no longer question Nolan. When he was going to do Ras & Scarecrow I thought...what? When he hired Ledger and Heath admitted he hates comics I thought...what? There is a reason the film now has grossed 500 million. The guy knows what he is doing.
