So I've been hearing stories (sad ones) about fellow Muggers going way out of their ways to find Muggs, only to come up empty handed. I, however, have not heard any Muggers say they've called a store and have struck gold. I may not be reading the threads that have these stories, but none the less, how come everyone travels so far instead of calling? I myself haven't had much luck, but because I live so far away from much of civilization, I can't go to town to look for them all the time. Has anyone had any terrible stories dealing mostly with phone calls? Any awesome ones?
Here's a call I made today that frustrated me.
I called Urban Outfitters, seeing that there's been Venom sightings in these locations. I called the only store in our state, and talked to the nice lady. She tells me that they do stock MM's (not M&M's), and goes to look and see if they have a Venom. She comes back saying yes excitedly, which in turn gets me excited. She then says "I can hold it until tomorrow.", to my response: "Damn, I already made my way to Boise today and don't know when I'll go again." She then tells me that she can ship the MM directly to my house, with no S&H charge. I became giddy again. Sadly, this was short lived. She asks me which characters I've collected already. I tell her I got BS Spidey and C3PO, to which I hear "Oh..." I said "Oh?", and she explains that the MM she is about to ship me is not Venom, but BS Spidey. To my dismay, I hang my head in defeat, tell her thanks and hang up. After that, it's been nonstop phone calls to all the stores in the state that stock MM's (Target, WalMart, Fred Meyers, KMart) with no luck. I can't help but feel dismayed, but I also feel gratification that I didn't waste gas to be told "We don't have that one."

most reasons why most of us dont call, is because most of the people who answer the phone are a-holes or dumb as **** and the ones that do know what they are, hold them for thier friends and lie to us. so there you go

I actually have to disagree with theemperor, I've called plenty of stores and have had Muggs held for me, infact that is how I got the Marvel W4, I called a local Target, the toy manger told me which ones they had in, I asked that they be held for me, he said yes until closing time and it will be under my name. I went after work on Friday and picked up all three, nice boxes an all. I've even done this with a TRU that is about 70 miles from where I live. So don't stop calling, you may strike Muggs one time.

That's the way I see it. It's funny because I've been calling Urban Outfitters all over the country. You can have the Mugg sent to you from their store, free S&H.
I'm going to call more stores to see if they can ship straight to my house.

We only have two TRU's here so in I've called the surrounding area ones, or if I'm heading to Austin I'll call them on the way, anyway, SOMETIMES they're really nice and actually know what I'm talking about. About 70% of the times they tell me they don't carry such a thing (which I then proceed to "YES yo do") So for Wal Marts and Targets which are abundant I'd rather just go...and I have NOOOO patience for Wal Mart.

Damn That's ok though, I found 2 Venoms, and they're being shipped to me. Will hopefully have them by the end of the week.

I called once and they said they had the new SW wave in.
They didn't.
Toys R Us seems to be helpful though.

I don't trust salespeople. Some of them will tell they have them just to get you in the store. Some of the are too d**n lazy to go look and tell you they dont have them.
I either go look myself or order online. Besides, half the fun is the hunt. ;D

Phone calls only works well if they know what to look for and will not hog the items for themselves or someone they know.
I once, about couple years ago, call Toys 'R' Us inquiring about a game, the title escapes me right now, and I was on hold for 30 minutes before they told me they do not have it.

Besides, half the fun is the hunt. ;D I do agree that hunting is fun, but due to the gas prices being way to expensive for me to drive to town all the time, I find it easier just to call. Even though you may end up with a BS representative, I still find it better to call and save gas for Muggs

When I call, it usually takes a while to get someone on the line in the area, but yes calling is a very good way to get some info, and they should have no problems holding some for you if you pick it up that day. As others have said, and I agree fully, gas prices usually prohibit me from going on the hunt aside from when I'm already out and about.
