As some of you may have known Joaquin Phoenix has retired from acting and is trying his hand as a hip-hop artist. As a big fan of his I had to ask. Is his recent "odd" behavior a serious mental condition or is he just using his natural acting skills as publicity stunts? He has teamed up w/ David Arquette (another actor that loves acting wierd just for reaction) to film a documentary of his rise in the hip-hop world. Could this be a way of getting attention for that documentary? Is he on something? Should he be on something? Rap? www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TObNDFPUp4David Letterman: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vyLME1-WdA

I'd be stunned if he weren't just acting. The Letterman clip is pretty funny, Phoenix just kind of looks like a fool.

Wow. That Letterman clip was crazy entertaining. I hope this is an act, because if its not I could see it ending badly.

It's gotta be an act. I just can't see him going mental overnight like that. What I mean is, people who go off the deep end in Hollywood do it gradually, Joaquin went crazy almost overnight. Plus he's one of those "method" actors who is serious enough to try to do some unconventional part/social experiment. I wouldn't be surprised to see a film/documentary next year starring a crazy ass Joaquin.

I am glad people agree. I figured it was an act. He is known for his goofball pranks on sets. Figured he is showing how much of an "artist" he is. I wonder what the company from his movie coming out w/Paltrow thinks about it? I suppose any news creates a buzz.
I don't care how many times I watch it, when he falls down those stairs I still get a laugh.

Actually, Joaquin has suffered with severe depression and anxiety for many, many years. Things might have finally got the best of him. Not calling it one way or another, but I'd say it's more than a 50% chance that he flipped his lid. He's pretty eccentric, to boot.

Apparently Casey Affleck has been following him everywhere he goes w/ a camera so I'd say this is Phoenix trying to pull and Andy Kaufman sized stunt.

I hope to Yoda it is a ploy. Jaoquin is a great actor and seems like a good person. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him.
I can not get over the Letterman interview. I watch it daily on my myspace.
