While we wait for a MM R2, here is my stand-in (yes, I am impatient...) The R2 is from the small super deformed Hasbro line which I believe Hasbro released in about 2001. The scale is actually quite nice and he makes R2 noises as well. Finally, the MM C3PO can be displayed without looking like he is missing his mechanical counterpart! (Please excuse the photo quality... my "good" camera is on the fritz and this one does not have the resolution!!!)

The little guy definitely seems to "belong" with the Muggs. IMHO, Hasbro will have a challenge to equal this one (personally, since the little R2 was made years ago by them, as part of a Super Deformed line, they might want to consider using HIM as the MM... especially with the sound effects electronics inside ... sadly, don't think the "official" MM version will have that ... although I would love to be proven wrong. In the meantime , I am more than satisfied. Any other "impatient" fans can search Ebay, which is what I did, for the little guy... less then $10.

I was thinking they could do the shape of a solid can on the bottom, paint on his legs and markings? Dome up top, kinda like a big salt shaker!
I'd love to see Hasbro attempt and pull off an R2-D2 in this super cool line I've gotten addicted to ;-)

Leia/Emperor legs and a body on top of that, fill in the head and arm holes and you have an astromec. Well, close as we will get keeping with the current pieces available.
And welcome Dustin. Good to see you around here.
