Everytime I go to pick up some muggs, I have a terrible urge to buy just for the purpose of opening because the boxes are in such bad shape that thats the only thing you can do with them.
My question is have you done this, or do simply just leave them be?

I know what you mean.. if I was independently wealthy I'd buy them up and donate them to kids in hospitals and other places... kids that wouldn't care about such things...

I leave them also. If the stores do not care about how their merchandise looks, then I will not buy it. Call me picky, but just because it is a toy does not mean that the outside box does not matter. The whole damaged box is a QA/PA issue, Quality Assurance/Product Assurance.

I left a trooper there the other day, so yeah I guess I leave them.

i would buy it even if the box was messed up depending on the figure. boxes don't really matter to me but i have to admit displaying them in the box looks awesome as well.

I can usualy barter most store in the trinity into marking down the price for a damaged box. Those I open and let my daughter play with. The MIBs or NRFBs stay on a shelf way above the daughter.

I wonder if the Targets/Wallys/TRU would give a discount on gamaged ones... I feel like they really should because I know those boxes that appear to have been punted will sit on the shelves for forever Also, I feel like i need to buy damaged ones and give them to the less fortunate now, if only I had that kind of money

Why buy damaged ones when you can just buy the nice ones for charity also?

I pick up the box.
Cry.
Say a small prayer.
Return the box to it's shelf.
Buy its pristine friend standing beside him.
(I'd be horrible trying to adopt a child lol)

I'm sure the Muggs forgive you, Reigner. (except for the Sith Lords, of course, they tend to be an unforgiving lot...) You're lucky the tiny size of the Sith Lord Muggs means that their powers are equally reduced... though collectively they might do damage in great numbers... I'd watch your back if I were you!!

Honestly, i buy the ones with little dents in boxes, but what i do is that when i display the boxes ill put the muggs in front of the dent or put the dented corner against another box, where it isnt visable

I bought a C3PO that had a badly torn box at a Wal Mart, because I he was the only one I was missing from my wish list. Pro: I did get a great discount, Con: Poor 3PO is the only lonely soul that is boxless.
