Folks returning from Wizard World Chicago are confirming that the "hiatus" of DC direct minimugs is actually the death knell for the line. Supposedly, they report (according to RTM and DC direct's own BB) that instead, we'll see something similar to Superhero Squad ... more kid friendly. Excuse me, but isn't that what Mattel/Fisher Price is trying to do with the Imaginext Superfriends Line (not the big 6" Chunky line)? DC Direct is going to go "kid friendly" while they don't have the Walmart/Target/ToysrUS presence like Mattel? Okay ......

That's a real shame. I really like Minimates, I had over 50 of them at one point and this news is unfortunate, not unexpected but unfortunate non the less.

Yeah... I am definitely a minimate collector (DC and Marvel) in a BIG way .... the size is perfect for collecting (and dioramas) and the blocky style is unique. I almost wish the (supposedly) incorrect rumors of MINI Muggs eventually being produced were true... It would be nice to have a set of Muggs that were say about half the size of the MIGHTY ones ... (in addition to the current ones, of course!)

News coming out of SDCC is that DC mates maybe moving into boxsets so they maybe not totally dead as of yet.
