For a very long time I collected the 3 3/4 inch Hasbro Star Wars figures (12 years or so) but have recently kicked that addiction in favour of the Gentle Giant minibusts. Been collecting them for I guess 2 years now and have fifty-some so far. What an amazing product.
Also this year, around the same time as the Muggs hit the streets, I started to collect hockey cards again. Nothing major, just some here and there as well as ones of my favorite player, Rick Nash from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Other than Mighty Muggs, my collections could be summed up as ...
Current lines DC Universe 6" (Mattel) figures sculpted by the 4 Horsemen DC & Marvel Minimates Marvel Superhero Squad DC Direct 13" Figures (high end mego-esque figures) Marvel Spidey & Friends / DC Superfriends (6" cartoony figures with chunky/arms & feet)
I still have my collections of (cancelled lines) Marvel Famous Covers 8" figures Marvel Legends 6" Figures (by Toybiz) Marvel Icons 12" DC Direct Pocket Heroes (yeah, I liked them ... I admit it!) original He-Man ('80s) and revamp (2002) 6" figures GI Joe 12" Adventure Team (1960's) GI Joe Sigma 6 (8" line) Planet Heroes (6" sci-fi)
Upcoming Lines I am interested in: 6" He-Man figures (a NEW line coming by the 4 Horsemen, NOT the 2002 line)
Lines I WISH would exist DC superhero squad DC Mighty Muggs
So primarily I am a DC and Marvel collector with some GI Joe and He-Man and other stuff added as well.
Since I am probably MUCH older than most of you (an ancient boomer in my late 40's) I still cherish the memories of my Mighty Matt Mason (8" astronaut line), Captain Action (12" superhero pre-mego line), and GI Joe Adventure team (when Joe was more like Indiana Jones rather than being a solider).
Luckily, I have a VERY understanding wife (and thanks to my "influence", she's actually become a superhero comic fan ... the fact that she loves Muggs and minimates was her own decision! LOL)

impressive collections guys!
MF, I love toy history and hearing you mention the adventure team reminds me of dvd I have. Have you ever heard or seen a fan made GI Joe documentary called "GI Joe: The story of America's movable fighting man" by Mitch Leiding? Highly recommended viewing!

I have a vast collection of Garbage Pail Kids, which might be quite before most of you guys' times. I even own some of the original artwork (which cost me $1275 after custom framing... more than half of a monthly paycheck, yikes) and speak with a bunch of the artists regularly. Beyond that, I have 300+ DVDs and around 1000 video games. Not really a collector of either, that stuff just sorta collects itself as time goes on.

Zoop, you must have a one of a kind collection with those garbage pail kids! I remember going to the movie in Encino CA, because I read in the paper that one of the gpk was actually going to be there in person. It was the little alligator kid that showed up (the name escapes me) but after that I started buying anything I could get my hands on! I had the checklist poster, the cards, school binders, and all kinds of other stuff that I don't recall anymore.

I've never known anyone who was a such as serious garbage pail kids collector before. (It's not the sort of collection one hear's about every day). Is there a story in there somewhere? (the how and why)

That is most definitely my YouTube page. Good eye. I should note that the page is not for children; I have a lot of videos that are "in character" where I play video games and mix curse words in ways that are hard to think of, much less comprehend. I THINK the Q&As are mostly safe, though I could be wrong. I have a pottymouth in general, so something might slip in there. That is AWESOME about the GPK movie, Playboy. Never heard of such a thing, where is/was your location? I'll have to mention it on the GPK Underground (think the MM Lounge for GPK). The one you're thinking of is Ali Gator. My GPK collection has run me about $2200 in total and is still incomplete (still need the first series set, which goes for about $250 mint), though the only thing I actively collect are sketches (most artists do these for free) and the cards themselves. As for why, I'm of the younger sort (23), so I grew up with it. When I got older, I found the images on the internet around 2001 and all those good memories rushed back to me, so I decided to start putting my collection back in place since a lot of my old stuff was ruined in a basement flood. I'm not made of money, so I keep my savings/checking accounts entirely separate and give myself limits on what I can buy per paycheck. That last remaining piece of the collection is such a huge chunk of change, and finding a good dealer who will sell you an ACTUAL mint/near mint set who you can trust, is both a challenge and an annoyance.

I'll try to get my PhotoBucket organized for photos... I have a collection thread at the GPK board, but only members can access it. I was even thinking of doing SDCC this year to meet the artists, but I'll be in LA for business instead. Drats!

I live in San Diego now but this was back when I lived in LA. The theater was in Encino CA in memory serves. I also remember them giving away a promo card as well.

Yeah, there are collectors who nab up those promo cards... They go for a decent chunk of change these days. I avoid the movie props, far too costly for my alley.
