Hey Loungers
Another Con day has come and is almost gone here at Comic Con and I find myself currently sitting right outside one of the biggest events at Comic con - the Saturday night masquerade event. There are some very talented people here with some amazing costumes! Not to mention a couple of ladies walking around with costumes that are making blush a little. Getting back on track here, Today was a slow Mighty Muggs news day after the announcements we got yesterday but I was able to attend a Transformers panel but we didn't get much in the way of Mighty Muggs news. The Optimus Prime that is being displayed in the Mighty Muggs case in the Hasbro booth was mentioned and the Transformers team invited everyone to go take a look but there was no mention of future waves nor any new images shown
I did catch up to the Transformers team after the panel but they held the identity of wave 2 very close to the chest and did not divulge any new info save that the next characters coming up look amazing.
I was also able to get an exclusive interview with Chris Hicks, the man responsible for Mighty Muggs along with lead artist Rob Dube (who is also the lead artist for the new movie GI Joe products that we will be seeing soon) two of the friendliest and approachable guys I've ever met. More on that later.
I was also able to speak to the folks over at Diamond regarding their Mighty muggs exclusives and why exactly they are doing them in pairs. In short, Hasbro and Diamond work together to brainstorm character selection with the emphasis leaning toward the collector as opposed to the retail giants. So this is a way to get collectors Mighty Muggs that we might not for one reason or another get. Both Hasbro and Diamond are being very careful not to flood the market but at the same time they are trying their best to meet a very eager fan base. The reason we are getting two Muggs at a time is simply case real estate. The case contains 4 Muggs so it makes sense on Diamonds behalf to get two characters that will sell as opposed to one character that might not fly off the shelves.
So there you have it guys, another amazing day at Comic Con. I'll see you guys soon as I need some serious rest. I hit the sack around 2am yesterday after attending a local TRU midnight Madness that did not yield wave 5 of the Star Wars Muggs, them got up 2 hours later to hit con bright and early. it's tough work so better me than you!
