Has anyone else ever noticed the overly used ?**? usernames on ebay? Where the ? is the same letter in both places, like q**q, a**a and so forth. So I ask you is that people using mutliple accounts to try to shill bid the price on their auctions up higher or just lazy, uncreative people? And if anyone on these boards has one of thoses type names I appologize, I don't mean any harm in my quesions? I'm just really curious.

No it is not a username, it is ebay;'s supposed way to "protect" buyers from, scammers. Liek phony 2nd chance items, phishing, and anything else you can think of that someone would to go illegally obtain your funds. Many buyers and sellers alike do not like, it. The buyers believe it makes shrill bidding easier, (which it does, why ebay did not think of that I have no clue) and the sellers believe it is running away potential buyers for fear of shrill bidders.

eBay does that so people can't see who bid.

oh I see. I have just recently opened a new ebay account, after a year and a half absense. I had heard they changed some rules and other stuff didn't know this was some of those changes. thanks for the info.

Yes, the other significent change (and being a Buyer it makes me happy) is that Seller's can no longer zing you with retaliatory feedback if you (justifiably) complain about item condition, high shipping charges or long wait time before they ship. I can sympathize with the Good seller who are upset that they can't post neutral/negative feedback against the Buyers but I'm glad that Buyers aren't affraid to post such any more thanks to the changes!

ebay is also going paperless. so no more money orders so now they get a piece of your full auction. you will have to end up paying with paypal. so you get hit with listing fees then final auction fee then a paypal fee.

True but with worldwide exposure and a HUGE membership, you do get what you pay for... There are several smaller auction sites but if you want to reach TONS of folks... you partner with someone with the BIG exposure and that does cost.. (It's no license to gauge, however, and on that point, I agree).
